Bill McKibben Calls from Jail

Uncategorized — 350.org Team August 20, 2011 at 3:52 pm
Bill McKibben just phoned with his one call from jail to report that despite the heat, everyone arrested today was in good spirits. “This was a powerful day,” Bill said. From what we’re hearing, the group is now being taken to central booking. There have been no confirmations yet about the amount of time that people arrested will be spending in jail, but our legal team will be putting out official updates as we get more confirmed information. From Bill and the whole team today, thank you to all the messages of support and prayers that you all are offering.
  1. Chris Heckman says:

“The drops of rain make a hole in the stone not by violence but by oft falling.” – Lucretius

“Fall seven times, stand up eight.” – Japanese Proverb

“Saints are sinners who kept on going.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

We, the People are speaking… and like Mother Nature, we’re only warming up!! Solidarity!!

  2. Realistic says:

Bill and the rest of the supporters should remain in jail so we don’t need to put up with the lies and propaganda that they continue to spread. Wake up and look at your surroundings, you all are responsible for more damage than the oil sands. Do you not see the coal plants everywhere in the US? But it will all be ok when you shut down the pipeline, as it will be you who has to pay more for Everything that you use daily. You will never be able to avoid petroleum, so give up already!

    • Krislinden67 says:

Realistic, it may be so that we cannot avoid petroleum. However, it will run out eventually. We need to start somewhere. Don’t you enjoy this planet? I know I do. It’s time for everyone to stop giving up and start working together to solve the problems we as a species have created. It won’t be easy, simple or maybe even successful. But please Realistic, don’t give up. Your future is my future.

    • I think I speak for everyone here when I say… huh?

    • progressivetruth says:

this comes from a person who has a failure in creative solutions and doesn’t understand how we started using coal and fossil fuel in the first place. propaganda is fox news, propaganda is koch industry, propaganda is when politicians knowingly pass legislation to support industries that harm the public. coal got amped up due to investments under carter’s administration.

  3. Fajisfjadsf says:

We are with you. For a better world. Unite and be smart fellow humans. Our corrupt opposers are using all technology and planning they can get their hands on to keep their wallets into filthy filling.

FIGHT, and hold those responsible accountable. FIGHT and be smart, so they will have minimal chance to shut you down and therefore minimizing our effect.

FIGHT, and make sure that those who don’t have the capabilities to know, those that are hiding in fear, feel secure, feel backed up, feel they need to do it for themselves. As it really is.

We came, we will not be scared off, we continue until those criminals have been stopped! For any single arrest, ten new people will appear.

And Mr. Kibbon, all I can give you is my sincere respect!!

to that ‘realistic’ asshole: WE ARE ABLE. that you were drown into your own lies. WE ARE ABLE. This is and has been proven.

Simple fact for you: 400 US citizens have more money than 150 million (!) others. If our governments did what they appointed to do for ages, already half this money on itself gives us EVEN WITHIN CURRENT CAPITALISM all means to get into 100% co2-neutral energy supply. Already this fact proves you must be dense. As it proves most of these 400 people simply shit on you. Laughing.

‘Realistic’ so you openly figured out that people that put their opinions in the way they did during this sit-in, should remain in Jail.

If you only knew how you are raping yourself through this single comment already.

  4. Mark Skudlarek says:

Thanks to all of you on the front lines!

Someone should mention to Realistic that it is quite typical for an addict to think that they cannot live without the substance that shackles them.

  5. Banshee017 says:

“This was a powerful day,” Bill said.

A powerfully stupid day, I’d say, Obama isn’t even AT the White House.

    Protest scheduling FAIL.
